International Women’s Day Celebration, 2018 Every year International Women's Day is the biggest and longest running day entirely devoted to women, be it for their achievements or hard work. On this auspicious occasion, Shambhunath Group of Institution with great zest celebrated this day and was a grand success. The event was organised by the great Endeavour of the literary club 'PRAYATANA' on March 7, 2018. Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Dr. Rita Bahuguna Joshi,was heartily welcomed as the Chief Guest. Mrs. Rakhi Chakraborty , Commissioner EPFO, Allahabad, and Dr. Amita Tripathi , Sr. Gynecologist Allahabad were present at the occasion as Guest of Honour. The function was inaugurated with lighting of the lamp by the honourable chief guest and the guest of honour. Dr. KK Tiwari, Chief Secretary Utthan further enlightened the moment by his motivational words. He mentioned how the institute provides special opportunities to girls to empower themselves. Even during admissions, the first priority is given to girls. Further, the chief guest raised a new level of motivation in the sitting audience. Her words were like a warm wind blowing into the cold places of soul. The guest of honours too shared their experiences and views on this day. Their words were like thunder to each one's ear. Among the students, Shadvali Dubey and Shreya too projected her views. Each speaker focused on telling how the women have the power to build the society, how each woman is unique in herself. Our institute witnessed a recent achievement for their girls’ hard work and taking the entire fraternity to zenith. Literary club presented a session on Importance of Female Health under “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Campaign”. Dr. Rajni Tripathi, Principal (SIL) shared views on Female Hygiene. She said that Female empowerment is a global problem and menstruation is an important factor that has been ignored, dismissed, and stigmatized for centuries. Far too many women have been silenced. This natural function of the human body should be acknowledged and respected – not shamed or ignored. We can all do our part to raise awareness and spread the word. Senior faculty member, Dr. Hemlata Srivastava proposed Vote of Thanks for the honorable guests and emphasized on the empowerment of women with her impressive words. At the end, all the dignitaries were gratified with presents. The day ended well with lots of enthusiasm and motivation among the team members of the literary club PRAYATANA- for better self. Success of the event added flavour to their happiness.
