3 days Workshop on Power Technology is being organized by National Power Technology Institute, Badarpur, New Delhi (A National Apex Body for Training in Power Sector), Ministry of Power, Govt. of India at Shambhunath Institute of Engineering & Technology, Allahabad on Sept.18-20, 2017 Workshop was inaugurated by lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Dr.K.K. Tewari, Secretary, Utthan & Sri Deepak Kumar Sharma, Dy. Director, NPTI, New Delhi. Workshop will be conducted by senior resource persons from NPTI and Nuclear Power Corporations Limited. Live scenario of Thermal power generation was presented, explained and demonstrated to the participants with the help of state of the art CBT’s. Welcome Address was given by Dr. K.K. Tewari. Sri Deepak Kumar Sharma, Dy. Director, NPTI, New Delhi deliberated in detail the about the present scenario of Power Generation in India, Challenges ahead, an overview of thermal power plants: site selection criteria, environmental care, fuel and water requirement, plant lay out. Sri D.K. Dwivedi, Director, E-Cell introduced Guest Speaker and about the Workshop. Prof. D.P. Agnihotri, DSW and Prof. Pradeep Pandey, Director, CRC also addressed the participants. Sri V.K. Gupta, Faculty, NPTI who has vast experience of working in Nuclear Power Corporation India Limited will give live presentation in next two days about the detailed practical exposure about the Boiler and it's auxiliaries: IBR, specification of 210/500 MW Boiler, Boiler construction, role of conomizer, Pr. super heater, platen superheater, reheater, boiler tube materials, flue gas temperatures, feed water and steam temperatures, arrangement of wind boxes, coal mills, primary fans, forced draft fans, induced draft fans, Air pre heaters and boiler feed pumps, Role of Generator, Generator construction, rotor & stator conductors, insulation, end shields, hydrogen cooling, stator water cooling, seal oil system excitation system and AVR etc. Faculty and 250+ students of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering participated in the Workshop.
